55 Little quilts of love

Beste quilters, er is hard gewerkt de afgelopen maanden, 55 quilts zijn er binnengebracht bij Evy voor het Hagaziekenhuis, heel hartelijk dank. We zullen er voor zorgen dat ze op de juiste plek terecht komen.

Tuesday the 2th september (just before leaving to the USA) I brought the second deliverance of 14 Little quilts of Love to the Hagahospital, they were very happy with them. Net voor mijn vertrek naar de USA heb ik de tweede zending met " Little quilts of love" afgeleverd bij het Hagahospital. Ook nu weer was de kraamafdeling zeer verheugd met de quiltjes. Hartelijk dank voor jullie quiltjes. Wil je meedoen lees dan eerdere berichten op mijn blog.

Sailboats and butterflies, zeilbootjes en vlinders

Binnenkort vindt de tweede levering aan het Hagaziekenhuis plaats. Heb je zin om mee te doen en quiltje te maken. De achterkant en tussenvulling zijn gratis af te halen bij het Quilterspalet. Houdt u van vlinders en/of zeilbootjes. Er ligt een gratis patroonblad klaar in het Quilterspalet (Weissenbruchstraat 3) in Den Haag.

Deze zomer is het “QuiltersPalet” gestart met een “Little Quilts of Love” project voor het Hagaziekenhuis in Den Haag. Een eerste zending van 14 quiltjes is op donderdag 17 juli door Caroline Dijkerman afgeleverd op de kraamafdeling van het Hagaziekenhuis. Jaarlijks worden hier honderden kinderen geboren.

Echter niet elke aanstaande moeder bevalt van een gezonde baby. Soms is het kindje al in de baarmoeder gestorven of anders tijdens of na de geboorte. Hierbij moet u niet alleen denken aan voldragen baby’s, maar vaak zijn het prematuurtjes, soms maar 500 gram of nog kleiner. De ouders krijgen een quiltje aangeboden door het verplegend personeel en kunnen dit quiltje gebruiken om hun kindje in te wikkelen en het zo te begraven of te cremeren. De quilt kan ook bewaard worden of thuis opgehangen worden. De quilt is bedoeld als een blijk van medeleven in een zeer verdrietige periode.

Meedoen aan het project “Little Quilts of Love”Jaarlijks heeft het Hagaziekenhuis tientallen quiltjes nodig. Vooral quiltjes in de maat 30x30 cm zijn zeer welkom. Misschien heeft u nog stofjes liggen en vindt u het leuk een quiltje te maken. Alle quiltjes zijn welkom. De quiltjes worden anoniem geschonken aan het Hagaziekenhuis. Geen tijd om een quiltje te maken maar wel stofjes over, breng ze naar de quiltwinkel, wij zorgen ervoor dat er quiltjes van gemaakt worden.

Het maken van een quiltje hoeft niet veel tijd te kosten. Voor de achterkant/tussenvulling kan bijvoorbeeld fleece worden gebruikt. Fleece-achterkantjes kunt u gratis afhalen bij de quiltwinkel “QuiltersPalet”, Weissenbruchstraat 3 in Den Haag. Hier kunt u de quiltjes ook afgeven.

Introduction

The “QuiltersPalet” has started a “Little Quilts of Love” project for the Hagahospital in The Hague. Caroline Dijkerman delivered the first 14 quilts to the maternity ward on Thursday 17 july. (see the pictures on the webalbum)

Each year hundreds of children are born in the Haga-hospital. Not every mother gives birth to a healthy child. Sometimes the baby has already passed away in the uterus, or the baby dies during birth. The little quilts are not only for fully developed babies, but also for premature babies. Sometimes these babies aren’t even 500 gr.

The nursing staff offers the parents a little quilt of love. They can use to wrap it around their baby, or bury/ cremate it with the baby. Or as often happens, they can keep the quilt as a remembrance.
The meaning of the quilt is to sympathize with parents and family during a very sad period.

If you want to join us…
Sadly the Hagahospital needs yearly more than 100 quilts. Especially needed are quilts in the size of 12 inch x 12 inch (30cm x 30cm). Maybe you have some time and fabrics left, and you would like to make a “little quilt of love”. Every little quilt is very welcome. The quilts are given anonymous/nameless given to the Hospital.

Making a “little quilt of love” doesn’t take a lot of time. For the backing and batting you can use for example, “fleece”. You can get the backing and batting for free at the Quilterspalet, Weisenbruchstraat 3, Den Haag/The Hague.
